DISCUSSION AND STUDY GUIDE FOR THE Sept. 12, 2021 MESSAGE:

Title: "FAITH - The Legacy We Must Pass on to Our Children"

Text:   II Timothy 1:5; II Timothy 3:14,15

Speaker:   Ptr. Elbern Latorilla

 WELCOME (Icebreaker) 5-10m[1]

What legacy would you like to be known for by family and friends or people you know?

WORSHIP (Look to the LORD)  5-10m

Read 2 Timothy 4:7  and pray sentence prayers to the Lord with this verse as a prayer prompt.

WORD (Learn  the Word) 20-40m

Outline: What kind of faith should our children receive from us as a legacy?

From our texts, we will learn 3 things:

  I. The REALITY of this FAITH - It was not imaginary or make-believe.

No wonder Paul remembered it well as he "saw" it being lived by Timothy.

II. The QUALITY of this FAITH - It was "unfeigned". "genuine"

There was nothing phoney about it. It was "sincere".

III. The VITALITY of this FAITH - It "dwelt" in Lois, Eunice and in Timothy.

  It was alive and dynamic.

1)     How did God speak to you through the message?

2)     What is an imaginary or baseless faith?  And why is this dangerous?  See Romans 10:14-17.  Proverbs 14:12

3)     How would you know if someone’s faith was not genuine or fake?  See Matthew 7:15-23

4)     Discuss the marks of a faith that is alive and dynamic?    See James 2:14-18.  Share other Scriptures you can think of in relation to this.

WORKS (Live the Word) 15-20m

1)     What legacy should we seek to leave to the coming generations whether it’s our families or our church?

2)     How does God want you to manifest your faith in your workplace, or school or community?   And how does God want to impact the people around you as you walk by faith in Christ?
